His most recent position was Director of Communications for the Swedish Armed Forces. Previous roles include Chief of Naval Operations, Deputy Chief of the Navy and Chief of Staff of the Joint Operations Command at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters. Since 1 October 2023, Ohlsson has served as Chief of His Majesty the King’s Military Staff.

Subsequently served as Chief of His Majesty the King’s Military Staff until 1 October 2018. Currently Senior Adviser to His Majesty the King.

From 2014 to 2018, he served as State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence under Minister for Defence Peter Hultqvist. He subsequently served as Chief of His Majesty the King’s Military Staff from October 2018 to September 2023.
