RÖS-protected printers and secure document management for the production and management of sensitive information, up to security level secret.
What is RÖS-protected printer?
n A RÖS-protected printer is designed to prevent information-carrying signals from leaking out and being intercepted via signal interception. Just as with RÖS-protected computers, the aim is to minimise the risk that sensitive information can be reconstructed in plain text by unauthorised persons. The printer meets established RÖS levels and is used in environments where classified information is handled. It is often adapted with special interfaces and functions to meet requirements in defence-related and security-critical operations.
Are there different variants?
Comex offers several types of RÖS-protected printers, adapted to different needs and security requirements. The range includes both simple laser printers and advanced multifunction printers with copying and scanning functions. There are standalone variants that enable local printing via, for example, a USB memory stick, without a network connection. For businesses with higher capacity needs, Comex also offers an enterprise solution that is approved according to RÖS U1 and TEMPEST Level A. All models are intended for use in environments where protection against signal interception is a requirement.
Secure printing of information according to current regulations
The Security Protection Act requires that classified information be protected against unauthorized access and signal interception. Comex RÖS-protected printers are certified to handle information up to the level of Qualified Secret and thus meet relevant requirements according to legislation and regulations. By combining technical protection with customized services, the solutions contribute to increasing information security in operations where strict compliance with security requirements is necessary.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What is a RÖS-protected printer?
A RÖS-protected printer is designed to minimize the risk of signal interception by preventing information-carrying electromagnetic signals from leaking out during operation. It is used in environments where security-classified information is handled and where there are requirements that the information must not be intercepted by unauthorized persons. RÖS-protected printers are certified according to established protection levels, such as RÖS U1 and TEMPEST Level A, and are adapted for operations with high demands on technical protection.
When are RÖS-protected printers important?
RÖS-protected printers are important in operations where classified information is handled and where there are requirements for protection against signal interception. This applies, for example, to the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish National Defence Force, government agencies and the defence industry. In these environments, it is crucial that information cannot be exposed through accidental electromagnetic emissions from the printer.
Who needs RÖS-protected printers?
RÖS-protected printers are needed by businesses that handle classified information and are subject to requirements for protection against signal interception. This includes the Armed Forces, other actors within the total defense, government agencies and companies with assignments in the defense or security sector. In these environments, it is necessary that printing equipment also meets technical protection requirements according to, for example, RÖS U1.
What safety standards do your printers meet?
Comex RÖS-protected printers meet security requirements according to RÖS U1 and TEMPEST Level A. These standards are intended to protect against revealing signals and are used when handling security-classified information up to the level of Qualified Secret. All printers are tested and accredited by third-party bodies appointed by the Armed Forces.
Does a RÖS-protected printer work like a regular printer?
Yes, a RÖS-protected printer basically functions like a regular printer, but is adapted to meet high security requirements. To minimize the risk of signal eavesdropping, certain functions and interfaces – such as wireless connections and Bluetooth – are often permanently disabled. Instead, specific, controlled interfaces are used that are approved for use in security-sensitive environments.
